quick hi
2023 is off to a quiet and unusually warm start, at least here in New York.
I don’t know why I’m sending out a newsletter right now. I got a giant iced coffee this morning but it’s after 5 and I’ve only had a few sips. I feel pretty out of it
A few small notes from my life of late:
-Waited at the stage door post-KATE to meet the titular star. I don’t think I’ve lingered around for an autograph since 2011 when I went to see Panda Bear at Webster Hall. I’m glad I did because it was really heartwarming to stand around in the rain with a bunch of quietly stoked young women. Rookie vibes. One girl wondered if it was weird to ask Kate to sign her program with the remnants of a YSL lipstick. Kate wisely suggested she borrow a pen because that shit is expensive.
-To every single person who has told me I would love Buffy: you were right, I do. It’s my latest show-to-sew-to and I adore it. I’ve been getting back into embroidery thanks to some thoughtful Christmas gifts but I really need to figure out some new machine projects.
-Sam and I stayed in for New Year’s Eve and watched The Trial of Joan of Arc. As Al said, we sure know how to set intentions…
-I caught Feeble Little Horse at Bowery Ballroom right before New Year’s Eve. What a great band.
-Sarah Nsikak’s show at Monument in Kingston was absolutely beautiful.
-“Seed fell out of the feeder
And the birds are eating on the ground
Jackass is funny
Like the Earth is round”
